A brick-vaulted warehouse turned into a rehearsal and exhibition space, without covering a single joint.
The vaults had been hidden behind a suspended ceiling for forty years. Taking it down revealed the original brick, blackened but sound. We cleaned it with low-pressure water and decided the project would mostly consist of not getting in its way.
All services run through the floor, under a fired-clay paving that lifts tile by tile. The lighting is indirect and warm, so the vault itself becomes the lamp.
